HandPoke FAQs

  • Hand poked tattoos are done manually with the same tools (needles/ink) used in machine based tattooing— but done dot-to-dot by hand. This technique often tends to feel less painful than traditional tattooing and has a much easier healing process.

  • For flash, I charge $150 as a minimum for tattoos & as my hourly rate. For customs, I charge a minimum of $200 (piece dependant) and an hourly of $150.

    • My hourly rate is for tattoo time + a 5 min break/hour for both of us.

    • For body contouring, or collaborative flash (hands, flowers, etc) the hourly rate includes drawing/planning time, stenciling, along with tattoo time + a 5 min/break for both of us.

    • For custom pieces, drawing time/fee is charged in advance of the appointment.

    Things that affect tattooing time;

    • Colour/fill; black ink tends to tattoo faster!

    • Placement; some parts of the body have stretchier skin that increases tattooing time.

    • Size/Intricacy; the larger the piece or finer the details, the more time will need to be taken tattooing. This can mean that a small, detailed piece can take longer than a simpler, larger piece.

  • Handpoked tattoos are 100% permanent. Barring any hand/foot placements known for faster fading, just like machine based tattoos— hand poked tattoos are here to stay!

  • You can fill out a *booking request here*

I post flash regularly on instagram, and always have a story highlight of available pieces. Additionally, I also am currently open for custom requests!

The more detailed your booking request is, the more accurately I am able to book in your appointment and provide you with a quote.

    • come hydrated & fed (you can always bring snacks to eat during breaks in longer sessions)

    • avoid drinking alcohol the day before & get a good night’s sleep.

    • stay well exfoliated and moisturized as long as two weeks beforehand, hydrated skin is infinitely easier to tattoo!

    • bring comfortable dark, loose clothing that allows for easy access to the area being tattooed— you can always change when you arrive.

  • I generally get clients to book time slots for the amount of time I estimate it will take to complete the tattooing. Therefore your appointment slot will also come with a general quote.

Tattoos are an art and not a science, when making plans, please account for the additional time needed for a consultation, stenciling, breaks (yours or mine) etc and do not make plans immediately after your tattoo appointment. It’s not the kind of service that can be rushed!

  • Everything you need to know is listed here!

Skin takes 4 weeks to heal, handpokes tend to “feel” healed much sooner, but your skin needs a full 4 weeks to be completely healed. So, give it some time to do it’s thing, follow the instructions in that link and be kind to your skin <3

  • Touch ups are free on all tattoos between one month to one year of being tattooed. Please email me with a clear photo of the tattoo in natural lighting with your request.

Please note, touch ups for tattoos done on the feet, hands and fingers are subject to charge.

    • What’s the best way to contact me? Email! Myself or my assistant will respond to you during business hours. Do not send follow up emails, or DMs.

    • Are tips expected? Tips aren’t expected, but are very much appreciated. Generally clients tip between 10%-20% the cost of the tattoo. Some clients prefer to tip in goods/crafts/gifts instead of monetary gifts and that’s always a special treat too (but again, not expected).

    • Please bear in mind that tattooing does require a great deal of focus and I cannot multitask guidance to clients who are interested in pursuing tattooing.
